Mario Kart World is the first Mario Kart where all the tracks are connected in one big world. You can drive from one race straight into the next one, and in Free Roam you can just cruise around looking for secrets.

My favorite mode is Knockout Tour. 24 racers start and the ones in the back get knocked out at each checkpoint. It gets really intense at the end when there are only four of you left.

The controls are easy enough for little kids but there are tricks like wall riding and rail grinding if you want to get good. I played with my dad and we both had fun.

If you have a Switch 2, this is the game to get first.

What's great

  • Huge open world to drive around
  • Knockout Tour mode is super exciting
  • Tons of characters and karts

Not so great

  • Some tracks take a while to unlock
  • Free Roam gets a little empty after a while
